Moving was really scary but I knew it was what I needed to do to get my life back on track. I was really stuck out there in Kansas and California was just the change I needed to make sure everything was going the way I planned at this point in my life. I decided after a couple of months out here with no job that it was finally time for me to start my own business and that’s exactly what I did! I bought a food truck and I’ve had really great success so far and I love being able to make my own schedule and travel around town all day. I went and researched bank card processing when things started taking off because I couldn’t only accept cash and now I’ve got enough consistent customers that I have hired someone to work with me part time! I can’t believe after all I’ve been through I finally own my own business but I’m really glad this is how everything worked out in the long run.

When my daughter started bugging me about getting TV in her bedroom it was because she wanted to watch The Hills, you know, that show that used to come on MTV? Now she’s all about The Bachelor and Bachelor Pad which I’m not crazy about but I figure if that’s the worst thing she can come up with then it’s not really all that bad. Carline is a great kid and she’s always at the top of her class when it comes to school so I relented and got her one of those little plasmas to go on her desk and a subscription to satellite from TV BY DIRECT. To be honest, I think my husband and I use the new channels more than she does especially now that it’s football season but she seems to be the same kid afterall. I guess all these years I’ve been villainizing a TV when I should have just been thankful she turned out with a great sense of judgment like she’s got!

I always knew this day would probably come—when I need to take care of my elderly parents. As their health as continued to decline, I’ve had to travel frequently to their home in a very rural part of south Georgia to make sure their needs are being met. Even though I grew up in this small town, I have not lived there since I left for college at age 18. I didn’t maintain friendships with many people from my early school years, as I was living in distant parts of the country. When I visit my parents, it seems so remote and cut off from the world. About the only way I can stay sane while I’m there is to stay in contact with the “outside world” through the internet.
