Is Your Resume A Mess?

I wish everyone could have a career coach and professional resume writer who works for them full-time. But that is fantasy! So for the rest of the world we need to find a simple and less costly method. In my quest to find one potential solution I browsed passed a product called Amazing Resumes. I say browsed because I passed it at least 10 times before I stopped to read it . Why you ask?  It is one of those web sites with an annoying talking head. I guess this is effective marketing for some people.
But what impressed me more was what the product could do. BTW they offered a money back gaurantee. So I figured lets play.
The product turns out to give very clear tips on how to create a an effective resume that will catch HR's attention. It is so difficult today to differentiate yourself and make your resume stand out and grab the attention of the employer!

  1. I'm running into these problems and I'm 42. So ageism has evolved into a new animal.

  2. The article had some practicality...but, being a resume writer myself I find it a little on the ambiguous side and it takes the human element out. I put the human element back in. Members are welcome to send their resume to hra246@gmail.com for a free review and options.

  4. I disagree that hiring a resume and career coach is a "fantasy" or that the cost is beyond anyone's reach.

Resumes are the most important marketing tool a candidate needs and paying from $250-$400 for a complete package is a reasonable investment in your future.

Professional resume writers interview you extensively and then take the information you provide them and customize it with your specific skill sets, framing your experience strategically, using current terms, creating your brand. Then they create the "package", your resume - carefully crafted and designed to sell "you."

I interviewed a number of career coaches belonging to a professional resume and career coaching organization, rather than picking just "anyone" that came up in a Google search.

I picked the right one for me, and as a result, I've gotten many interviews and have many options now.

I'm a professional writer with a BA in Communication, and I had what I thought was a stellar resume...but, I found I was too close to the project to effectively "toot" my own horn and wasn't getting interviews.

I believe the"fantasy" here is expecting a boxed software to be intuitive and to provide the highest quality resume, using just the right words that set you apart on paper (or electronically), without a trained human involved!

Hiring a pro is a great investment, and you owe it to yourself to at least explore it.
