Wonder Why It Is So Difficult To Find A Job?
Editors Note: Its pretty clear as I read the current and historical Bureau of Labor Statistic Numbers that simply put the unemployment rate for 45-54 year olds has more then Doubled in the last two years from 3.4% to 7.8%. That has adding another 2 million unemployed skilled workers to the job search market.
The sad joke of it is that this age group still has one of the lowest unemployment rates of all age groups. If you are 20-24 years old the unemployment rate is over 15%.

In the UK figures from The British Population Survey show that;
ReplyDeletein Q1 2008 the unemployment rate amongst 45 to 54 yr olds was 2.94%.
This rose to 4.34% in Q1 2009,
fell slightly to 4.04% in Q1 2010
but so far in Q1 2011 (Jan and Feb numbers) it is back up to 4.41%.
The % with a University education has also risen quite dramatically from 12% in 2008 to 17% in 2011.
Interestingly 35% of then search for jobs on-line compared with 40% of the under 45s
