How Difficult has it gotten for Older Workers?
"In figures released in September by the Census Bureau, the poverty rate among those 55 to 64 increased to 9.4 percent in 2009, from 8.6 percent in 2007".
"The percentage of Americans struggling below the poverty line in 2009 was the highest it has been in 15 years, the Census Bureau reported , and interviews with poverty experts and aid groups said the increase appeared to be continuing this year".

I am 56 and have been looking for full time employment for a year and a half since moving to take care of my elderly father. So far all I have been able to get was part time work as a cashier. I will only gross about 6000.00 this year. I only see it getting worse for older workers. Younger workers with newer technology skills are having trouble finding jobs. It won't suprise me if over 55+ unemployment goes up to 30%. So much for economic recovery!
