Comment of the Day from Article: "Have any of you experienced job scams targeted to the unemployed worker? http://internsover40.blogspot.com/2010/07/as-older-unemployed-worker-are-you.htmlPosted by Kathleen Natalie

"I worked as an Outplacement Professional for 8 years and I had 3 of my candidates encounter a similar scam. All three had their resume on Monster and all three had been with their former company over 25 years. Each received a call stating this was a service who could get the individual a job within 3-6 months and they wanted to set up a meeting with the client and their spouse. Thinking it would be best to work face to face, they attended a meeting and used the spouse to encourage the client to sign on.
My first candidate signed on for $5,000. He called me after 6 weeks to say he didn't have a resume and would I help him. He was so embarrased he never went back to get his money. You may wonder how this works..the scam goes through Monster and looking for an individual who has been employed 25 years++ an older individual who would most likely be afraid to start searching at this point in their career, and the scam would pick out these individuals as more likely than not they would have received a severance and investment ....giving them money to afford to pay for a quick fix.
The other individual paid $6,500 never got a job, and the final individual paid $12,500 as this company promised extensive internet resources ...again did not get a job through the service... So I always remind my clients Let the Buyer beware"
