House Passes Unemployment benefits Jobs Bill. It now moves to the Senate. But Congress is on Vacation for a week. As reported by CNN " more than 2.1 million people are expected to have lost their unemployment benefits by the time legislators reconvene on July 12.
House Democrats have struggled to get support from Republicans, who oppose the extension because it adds to the nation's $1.4 trillion deficit." Do you think the Senate should pass it?
YES, YES, YES they sould extend Unemployment Benefits until the jobless rate drops a lot more. I'm 61 years old, widowed, own a home (for 22 years and its almost paid off), have no other income, no family and no other financial support. If they don't pass it I will lose my home, medications, car and maybe my life! I have been activiely looking for a job for 15 months now (averaging about 6 hours a day 7 days a week) and have had only 5 interviews. I have some physical limitations so that doesn't help me much. What am I to do now? HELP...

ReplyDeleteIt is ridiculous that unemployment extensions would be denied - how about denying these overpaid corporate executives their inflated salaries, ridiculous bonuses, stock options, and golden parachutes that often result of their own 'mistakes'...? This vicious cycle that companies are only hiring those people with jobs, and people who are unemployed for extended amounts of times who are dealing with this and who can now not receive unemployment is blasphemy in what we call the land of opportunity... Its absolutely ludicrous, how are people once making six figures, reduced to unemployment and now reduced to minimum wage and temp jobs expected to live... how are those overrepresented in this unemployed group supposed to survive, those over 50, African American, Female, & Hispanic? The extensions should pass...PERIOD.
